Profile

Dr. Virendra Shende is a multidisciplinary biologist whose research spans is very wide, from cellular ultrastructure to large-scale ecological dynamics. You have 26 years of teaching and 20 years of Research experience. You have published more than 40 research papers in reputed International journals. With advanced expertise in Transmission Electron Microscopy (TEM), You investigates fine structural details of tissues, particularly within the fields of endocrinology and reproductive biology. Their work extensively explores the reproductive physiology of mammals, with a specialized focus on histology and histochemistry in bats, contributing to a deeper understanding of chiropteran biology and its ecological significance.

In parallel, he conduct research in ophiology, examining the diversity, behaviour, and conservation of snake species. Their taxonomic and ecological interests also extend to the study of the diversity of avifauna, as well as various insect groups including Lepidopterans, Anisopterans, and Zygopterans, providing insights into species interactions, population patterns, and habitat use.

Beyond organismal biology, You actively works at the interface of environmental biology, ecosystem services, and biodiversity conservation, with a strong focus on the impacts of climate change on ecological stability. Their research also explores the relationships between environmental issues and religion, examining how cultural and religious perspectives shape environmental ethics, conservation behavior, and community-based sustainability practices.

Driven by a systems-level approach, Dr. Virendra Shende integrates microscopic, organismal, and ecosystem perspectives to address contemporary challenges in biodiversity conservation, species management, and ecological resilience.
